Gomez began his basketball career playing for the Soles de Mexicali in the Mexican Basketball League. He then moved on to play college basketball in the United States, competing for the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Miners.
In 2017, Gomez declared for the NBA Draft but went undrafted. He then signed with the Milwaukee Bucks to play for their NBA G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd. He has also played for the Mexican national basketball team in international competitions.
